4.       What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?
Our group experience errors when setting up the GPS, I know it is hard to show how to set it up in a group of 20 people but somehow go over setting up the GPS so the entire class can see.

Field Activity #10 and #11: Aerial Mapping with a UAS

1.       Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about the topic. (1-No Knowledge at at all, 2-Very Little Knowledge, 3-Some knowledge, 4-A good amount of knowledge, 5-I knew all about this

4- Agree

4.       What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?
I would recommend some background knowledge on working with Photoscan.  It was good for the class to figure it out on our own and use critical thinking skills, without Drew this activity would have been impossible.  Hopefully next year the knowledge we have with the new image mosaic programs will be expanded.

Field Activity #12: Tradition Navigation Activity

1.       Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about the topic. (1-No Knowledge at at all, 2-Very Little Knowledge, 3-Some knowledge, 4-A good amount of knowledge, 5-I knew all about this

5- Strongly Agree

4.       What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?
I would recommend enforcing groups to keep track of their pace count to measure out the distance from each point.  I saw some groups avoiding that and just walking and moving very fast ahead until they found the point.  They also did not use the proper techniques by having someone walk ahead and be used as a marker.

Field Activity #13: GPS Navigation Activity

1.       Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about the topic. (1-No Knowledge at at all, 2-Very Little Knowledge, 3-Some knowledge, 4-A good amount of knowledge, 5-I knew all about this
3- Some knowledge

4- I know enough to teach someone else

3.       Did the hands-on approach to this activity add to how much you were able to learn (1-Strongly Disagree, 2-Disagree, 3-No real opinion, 4-Agree, 5-Strongly Agree)
5- Strongly Agree

4.       What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?
This activity was very fun, but I wish the paintball could be incorporated better.  Our group saw only 2 other groups but they were too far away to get a good shot.  Maybe cut the course short to 10 points and then after everyone is done do a fun activity where two groups start at two different spots and race to a point no one has been to yet.  However, this time the GPS is out of play and only the compass and map can be used.  I think that will be very challenging and fun for any groups who to want to use the paintball guns more often.

Overall Course Evaluation

The course took a very hands-on approach which benefited the class greatly.  Some activities involved groups to take actions on their own with no help.  I thought everyone worked well with each other and used the students, professor, and Martin to their advantage when problems occurred.  These field activities will greatly help to improve our educational experience, especially when applying for jobs.  The hardest part of the course for me was using ArcMap and ArcCatalog.  I might have been because I have only taken GIS 1, but without my group partner Drew, I would have struggled to make makes to represent the data and also to make maps when preparing for activities.
